Mountain Sandstone - Basement Flooring (Grouted Edge)

Basement Floor Tiles

Rich and deep in color, the favored Mountain Sandstone interlocking vinyl top basement floor tile has an attractive dark, stone-like appearance that provides a warm and cozy feel. It has beveled edges on all sides in order to give it the appearance of a grouted floor. These tiles snap together like a puzzle because of its simple loop-to-peg interlocking system, making it an easy DIY project. The tiles provide a comfortable surface for walking. You may install these basement tiles over chipped or uneven concrete. They may be installed over any flat surface, including carpet, vinyl or concrete. Its polymer base is strong enough to withstand large heavy furniture. Underneath the tile, is a grid structure with air gaps for ventilation. These air gaps are needed in humid basements and provide a thermal barrier effect, creating a warmer, and more comfortable surface. The Mountain Sandstone tiles are the finishing-touch for your ideal basement!

Easy to Assemble DIY Flooring

Each Mountain Sandstone interlocking basement floor tile measures at 12x12- inch (1 square foot). Before determining how many tiles will be needed, you need to know the entire square footage of your basement. The basement's entire square footage will be equal to the amount of tiles needed to cover the entire area. Cutting may be necessary in order to cut around any stand still objects, stairways or walls. Therefore, it is recommended that you purchase approximately 6% more that the square footage in order to account for the waste. Due to the four loop-to-peg interlocking system per tile, these basement vinyl tiles snap together with a downward push and disassemble with an upward pull. Before installation, you will need to clear the concrete floor of any dirt, or dust by sweeping the area. There is no need for professional help or professional tools for this DIY project. However, if covering a large basement area, using a small plastic mallet and knee pads may make installation easier.

Beveled Edging

The beveled edging of the Mountain Sandstone basement tiles create the appearance of a grouted floor. As a matter of fact, the beveled edging is what sets it apart from the other dark tone tiles. This small detail is what is so unique about the Mountain Sandstone and the Sandstone series basement tiles.

Durable Vinyl Top and Polymer Base

Made to be colorfast and UV protected, the Mountain Sandstone interlocking basement floor tiles are resistant to fading and staining. The vinyl composite surface can handle the average walking traffic a basement normally endures. Beneath the vinyl surface is a base composed of high-impact polypropylene. The polymer base is rigid and strong in order to support large items typically found in a basement; such as sofas, pool tables, storage chests, television stands and so on. Despite the durability of these interlocking vinyl top tiles, it is important to maintain the surface of the tile and the concrete floor. To clean, you may use a Swiffer or water and mild soap for the surface. Doing so, and sweeping underneath the tiles will prolong the life of the floor.

Grid Structure

Polypropylene is used for its rigid composition, lasting durability, and even its antimicrobial property. This type of plastic resists the growth and development of mold and mildew, an added benefit for humid basements. This polypropylene based foundation is also constructed as a grid layout in order to let air constantly circulate. With this grid structure, moisture and humidity are allowed to escape, hindering the possibility of mold cultivation on the polymer foundation. Regardless of these mold-resisting components, the Mountain Sandstone vinyl top basement tiles are not made to be used in constant wet environments. Instead, these tiles perform their best in drier areas where concrete is not wet to the touch.

Variety of Other Uses

With the appealing deep stone-look, these interlocking basement floor tiles can be used in a wide variety of places rather than just in your residential basement. A few examples of other uses for the Mountain Sandstone tile include commercial displays, temporary office floors, trade shows, and much more.
